Join Our Mission
The Youth Care Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day
leadership, administration and management of the residential units
including developing and implementing a comprehensive therapeutic
program to ensure youth needs is met.
Goal of our Sheltered Hearts Program
Our goal is to provide safe and timely reunification for a child
and their family or suitable sponsor.
In partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services,
the Sheltered Hearts Program provides family reunification and
short-term shelter for children who have entered the United States
without a guardian. Children reside in our family-style cottage
located on our 2,000-acre campus while our bilingual staff provide
a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day supervision of staff including
assigning/directing work and ensuring ratios are met, conducting
supervision and performance assessments, coordinating/conducting
staff training and development, hiring and selection/conducts new
hire orientation, making recommendations for personnel actions and
managing a union environment.
- Responsible for managing and monitoring time management
including approving timecard, approving time off requests,
completing weekly staff schedules, projecting overtime, and
submitting reports.
- Monitors program budget and petty cash to ensure expenses do
not exceed budgetary limits. Responsible for implementing and
monitoring billing and variance reports. Monitors youth monies and
accounts.
- Coordinates and ensures overall therapeutic milieu of assigned
unit including PBIS, recreation programming, independent living
groups, life skills, ABC groups, treatment groups, and implement
daily group calls. Ensures program provides consistency and
accountability to youth while enhancing therapeutic relationships.
Ensures staff is engaged in positive activities and interactions
with youth.
- Ensures and promotes a healthy well-being by maintaining a
clean, safe and enriched environment; ensures unit is kept in
accordance with standards required by regulatory agencies and
sanitation; ensure adequate clothing, supplies, linens,
recreational equipment and other items required to operate unit.
Oversees fire drills and completes required paperwork. Implements
maintenance and documentation action plans.
- Coordinates and conducts searches for out of program youth.
Reviews documentation including but not limited to whereabouts
sheets, incident reports, logs and youth schedules.
- Coordinates requests for transportation and collaborates with
transportation staff to ensure needs are met including but not
limited to home leaves, court appointments, medical appointments
and special trips.
- Facilitates and participates in various meetings and committees
including but not limited to team meetings, staff meetings, and
core treatment team meetings.
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures; promotes and
supports agency mission, vision and values including participating
in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement
initiatives.
- Complies will all federal, state and local laws and
regulations, including those or ORR, ICE and the NYS Office of
Children and Family Services Job Requirements
- Minimum Associate's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice
or related field. For every year of related experience, discretion
can be made in lieu of degree
- Minimum 1- 3 years of experience working with high risk youth
in residential treatment setting.
- Supervisory experience in a residential treatment setting
required.
- Varicella Vaccine required OR titers indicating varicella
immunity OR documentation from a healthcare provider verifying
previous infection.
- MMR (Measles Mumps & Rubella vaccine required OR titers
indicating immunity to all three diseases.
- Tdap (Tetanus-diptheria-pertussis) vaccine required.
- Influenza vaccine required, one dose annually during flu
season.
- Physical (Medical Exam) required.
- Must be able to work 9AM-5PM during new hire orientation to
complete TCI(Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), CPR and Sanctuary
training. Must maintain TCI and CPR certification.
- Required to be 21 years or older.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, outside of normal
business hours including nights, weekends and on-call, as
needed.
- Must have a current and valid driver's license with acceptable
driving history to the Agency
- Fluent in English/Spanish with excellent verbal and written
communication skills
- Able to work with a culturally and economically diverse
population
Pay
$63,000 annual
Schedule
Tuesday to Saturday 1p - 9pm
